What once was a farm is now our new hub, where we aim to create dynamic environments where business development, innovation, entrepreneurship and collaborations can flourish in inspiring ways between public authorities, the business sector, research- and educational institutions, and civil society.
We are known for our collaborations with different partners locally, nationally and across European borders, and with Gundestrupgaard, we now have the place and capacity to embrace our approach for innovation and collaborations even better.
At Gundestrupgaard we offer business service as an 'all inclusive' solution that is open and easy approachable for our local businesses. It goes by the name "One entrance" as we have gathered all relevant competencies from Vesthimmerland that offer different services so we can cover our business sectors' needs.
Our vision
Our vision with Gundestrupgaard is to support business service as an “all inclusive” solution. At the same time, we want to create sustainable development – especially in areas such as welfare technology and green transition. This will all take place by creating a dynamic environment which, in the future, will have a key function and support important parameters in the value chain.

- Needs and challenges (Innovation)
Needs have been identified and market challenges investigated – a innovation process begins towards starting a new business adventure.
- Idea (Living Labs)
The initial business case takes shape – and the ideas are transformed into calculations and drawings. A new Start-Up company is established at Gundestrupgaard, and the door to the living lab opens automatically.
- Test and prototypes (Entrepreneurship)
Tests of new prototypes and new technologies are developed in a constantly process between the Lab and the Start-Up desks. Eventually, new products are ready to penetrate the market.
- Production and sale (Competences)
The business case expands including new strategies for further production and sales. The business support at Gundestrupgaard helps the Start-Up with the strategy, permissions, funding, labor force etc. It is a free all-inclusive business support package. New competences are required, hence new employees are hired in and trained at the facilities of Gundestrupgaard.
- Establishment and growth (Business support)
The Start-Up company have success, and are ready now for more square meters. They apply for a building permit with the intention of building a new factory on the commercial lands of Gundestrupgaard. The permission was granted and a new business adventure starts – the process from idea to action takes place on one address, at Gundestrupgaard.
Our facilities
The farmhouse will function as the one and only entrance for business support in Vesthimmerland – where you will find employees with the right skills and competencies that will do their best to tailor the needed business support as well as function as a stepping stone to relevant partnerships, projects and programs.
The three halls will provide different office facilities for entrepreneurs, creating a space where different businesses can work side by side, share their knowledge on a daily basis and help each other with different tasks as well as offer the right environment for innovative activities and product testing, living labs, show rooms, events etc. Here we will invest in the right equipment to support innovation and development in the best ways possible and install 3D printers and other necessary facilities in the halls.
Gundestrupgaard will thereby become an open dynamic environment where businesses and educational institutions meet, collaborate and work with innovative projects. It will foster creativity, knowledge sharing and curiosity that will fuel new projects along the way.
Our collaborations
In Vesthimmerland Municipality we have a long tradition of supporting our development with project collaborations, both in regional, national and European contexts. And in order to fulfil our ambition, strong collaborations are essential to a successful development and operation of Gundestrupgaard.
The quardruple helix model will be the core concept of Gundestrupgaard, where we will bring the business industry, educational institutions and public authorities together for collaborations. By doing so Gundestrupgaard will become an environment where creativity, innovation, research and development can flourish. We aim to:
- combine our knowledge, competencies and resources to benefit from each other’s strengths and build upon each other’s ideas to increase our potentials for innovation and technology development
- develop sustainable solutions to match the market demand and meet the challenges in today’s fast changing society especially within welfare technology and green transition
- attract the right and highly educated candidates to the labor market as well as create new businesses and jobs in the municipality – all to support development in the business industry and to ensure that Vesthimmerland is an attractive place to live and work in
- give students from educational institutions the opportunity to work on real projects where they can transform theory into practice, develop and test new solutions, technologies and products, and thereby achieve hands-on-learning and real work experience
- provide the right support for the local SME’s to help them achieve business growth e.g. by partnering up with students from educational institutions, by becoming part of a regional program or by getting the right counseling from the municipality to develop their competencies.
- The innovative environment and activities at Gundestrupgaard will contribute in making Vesthimmerland an even more attractive municipality to invest in.
The model acts as the foundation for how innovation takes place and comes to life at Gundestrupgaard and is centered around the cooperation between four actors: public authorities, the business sector, research- and educational institutions, and citizens.
Innovation requires contributions and cross-sectional collaboration from each of these actors in order to generate solutions to complex problems that are sustainable, relevant and adapted to the needs of society, as well as durable for the long-term.
Our location in Northern Denmark
Not only do we in Vesthimmerland have attractive nature, like the coastline by our lovely Limfjord, a rich cultural life which involves multi-artist Per Kirkeby, author Johannes V. Jensen and Denmark's largest ring fort Aggersborg – a part of UNESCO's World Heritage List.
We are located in a perfect geographical spot in Northern Denmark. From Gundestrupgaard you can easily connect to the rest of Denmark, Europe and the whole word.
